Sometimes the transition happens by chance
The beauty of complex systems is that many things can not be expected ... for this transition is more a mindset than a statement of things to do. In fact, the complex system "planet" does not allow you to accurately forecast and therefore there is a unique way to improve their sustainability. We do daily small steps towards a more sustainable society starting from different situations and possibilities.
Today I talk about mobility.
lives about 10 km from downtown Bologna in a country that is called Granarolo dell'Emilia, but we are country and we are about 1 or 2 km from the bus stops. So while in some cases be preferred (when we go to the center), often walking + bus is an alternative for about an hour ... much better the bike in about half an hour takes you in a natural way to the city limits (overflight traffic and the lack of cycling). In short already since last year I got an electric bike with whose arrival in office in Bologna in about half an hour making zero effort and moving at least a little 'legs.
Other days I do work instead for about 100 km touring the province to visit customers. So far I have used the car that I bought in 2002, a Fiat Ulysse (with which to make travel comfortable and the space behind big enough to sleep in if needed), it was really just "transition ".... (A 2 ton machine that initially consumed a liter per 10 km) ... Then I learned how to reduce fuel consumption increased to 15 km run with a liter of diesel, however, not sustainable! And here is the case ... a couple of months ago a car cuts in front of me and I have a serious accident but not enough to make € 6,000 of damage to the machine. The value of the car was already below 180,000 km and with the difficult decision was to demolish the car and buy a new one: a panda on gas!
Oltre a costare la metà inquina meno ed ha ottime prestazioni. Nel complesso un passo in più nella nostra transizione personale. Unico neo è demolire 2 tonnellate di auto che in realtà sarebbero potuti durare almeno un'altro po'... mi illudo che visto che ce ne sono pochissime dai demolitori fino ad oggi... quasi sicuramente verrà smontata pezzo per pezzo e venduta al primo che ne fa richiesta (io non sono mai riuscito a trovare nessun pezzo di ricambio dai demolitori).
Altro vantaggio della Panda è che quando comincierò ad avere bisogno di pezzi di rcambio ce ne saranno moltissime dai demolitori... tra 10 anni chissà quanto costeranno i pezzi originali!!
Ricapitolando i miei percorsi di sostenibilità nella mobilità...
1) 30% reduction in fuel consumption with driving risprmiosa

3) Replaced use cars with summer bicilcletta electrical path for home office and turn in the center (reduced about 1000 km per year resulting in savings of fossil fuels).
4) Replaced drive that consumed about 1200 liters of diesel per year with Panda that would consume about 900 kg of methane.
5) Without subscription car sharing ATC Bologna that € 52 a year subscription allows you to hire the necessary hours by car very cheap (to subscribe enables the system to grow and is a good occasion when you need it a few times a year) or for those who can afford to be without your car (I envy you) ...
